In order to continue receiving real estate tax (RPT) incentives in Riga from 2023, the Riga City Council reminds that residents must register an official e-mail address or provide consent to electronic communication with the Riga City Council Municipal Revenue Board via e-mail by 1 January. If the official e-mail address has already been established or all correspondence related to the VAT is already received by e-mail, residents do not need to do anything and do not need to contact the Administration.
If there is no registered electronic communication channel, from 1 January, the VAT relief will not be calculated and residents will receive notifications of the need to pay their VAT in full. However, 2023 will be a transitional period: if an official electronic address is established by 15 December, or if the person agrees to communicate electronically with the administration via e-mail, the relief will be granted for the whole period of the 2023 tax year and the tax due will be recalculated.
