ABOUT THE PROJECT
The design of these dwellings has been primarily concerned with the special qualities of the site. The building on the first street has a historic feel, with natural lime plaster used to restore the facade and historic passageway. From the windows of the apartments, residents will be able to enjoy views of the green, quiet Alauksta Street and the courtyards of Grīziņkalns. The other buildings are located in a courtyard closed off from the street, which allows to enjoy a quiet and intimate environment unusual for the city centre. It features a garden with a seamless separation between public and private space. By opening the windows, the ground floor occupants gain an extended living space that continues onto the outdoor terraces, while the low and spacious windowsills can be used for seating. The project has been fully renovated, including the reinstallation of all electrical, water and sewage services, the construction of new partition walls, and the installation of external doors to the apartments, complying with sound insulation and fire safety standards. Recuperation systems have been installed in the apartments and convector heaters or underfloor heating have been installed to provide heating, with the possibility to regulate heating remotely.
