The safety of the area is supported by NATO soldiers, who are frequently seen nearby, as their military base is located just a few hundred metres away. The level of security is exceptionally high, which is why both children and adults feel very safe here.
Someone unfamiliar with the area might assume that living near a NATO base and a military training area means constant noise. However, it is considerably quieter here than in Mežciems when competitions are taking place at the Biķernieki track. It is also significantly quieter than living in central Riga or next to any major arterial road. Quite simply, the training area is large, and military exercises usually take place 5–10 kilometres away from Kadaga. In the evenings after work, all you will hear is birdsong and the gentle rustling of the wind through the pine branches.
